  • In Night Pool, Salomón Huerta transforms a familiar Southern California scene, a private swimming pool at night, into something magical. As a child, Huerta worked alongside his father maintaining pools, an experience that gave him an intimate understanding of their surfaces, reflections, and moods. The deep, dark water in this painting feels almost alive, with subtle shifts in color and tone that suggest reflection, depth, and calm. There are no people here, but the pool feels full of memory and possibility, inviting you to pause and imagine your own story within the scene. Huerta’s brushwork makes the everyday feel fresh and poetic, turning a simple, ordinary place into a moment of stillness and beauty. It’s a painting that encourages slow looking, reflection, and a personal connection to the space.

  • Night Pool captures the wonder of light and darkness in a way that feels entirely fresh. Most pools are shown in sunlight, but Huerta paints this one at night, where the water seems to hold secrets in its depths. The glow on the surface invites you in, calm and meditative, while the emptiness makes it feel intimate, almost personal. It sparks curiosity. Where is this place, and why does this moment matter so much to Huerta? The painting transforms an everyday scene into a space for reflection, imagination, and meditation.
